Estimated travel time: Approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes each way, with a scheduled rest stop midway on both the outbound and return trips.

ArriveBetty Dunn Nature Center - Start of Hike

We expect to arrive at the Betty Dunn Nature Center parking lot in Fall Creek Falls State Park around 10:30 AM. Restroom facilities will be available before we begin our 4-mile round-trip hike to Fall Creek Falls.

You’ll be rewarded immediately with stunning canyon and waterfall views along Cane Creek. Cross Cane Creek via a suspension bridge that spans the top of Cane Creek Cascade Falls, then continue toward a high bluff overlook offering dramatic views of Cane Creek Falls and Rock House Falls.

Your hike continues through a temperate rainforest landscape as we make our way to the Fall Creek Falls and Gorge Overlook. From this vantage point, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Fall Creek Falls, Coon Creek Falls, and the Fall Creek Gorge. This marks the halfway point of your hike, which typically takes between 1.5 to 2 hours to reach. Restrooms, water refill stations, and park benches are available in this area for a break before we continue.

For those seeking a deeper adventure, you’re welcome to join a guided trek to the base of the falls.

This strenuous 0.5-mile hike includes descending more than 300 feet (91 meters) over rocky terrain to reach the base of Fall Creek Falls—a dramatic 256-foot free-falling waterfall plunging into a misty gorge.

At the base, you may opt for a refreshing swim beneath the falls (weather permitting), take photos, or simply find a quiet spot to relax and soak in the serenity.

For those who prefer to stay above the gorge, several breathtaking viewpoints and less strenuous walking paths offer panoramic views without the need to descend into and climb out of the gorge.

After our time at Fall Creek Falls, we’ll enjoy a scenic forest hike back to the Betty Dunn Nature Center.

Culinary Interlude

Around 2:00 PM, you’ll enjoy a complimentary lunch served in a scenic location, which may vary depending on the season, weather conditions, and site availability.

Return250 Rep. John Lewis Way S., Nashville, TN 37203

You can expect to return to downtown Nashville between 6:00 PM and 7:30 PM, though this is only an estimate. Actual return time may vary due to factors such as traffic, weather, and the group’s hiking pace.

For this reason, we strongly recommend avoiding any early evening reservations. Be sure to allow yourself time to freshen up before heading out for dinner, a concert, or other plans.
