What to Expect On Your Guided Private Group Tour of Fall Creek Falls State Park

Spend approximately five unforgettable hours exploring Fall Creek Falls State Park—a pristine wilderness filled with dramatic gorges, cascading streams, ancient temperate rainforests and some of the most iconic waterfalls in the Eastern United States.

At 256 feet, Fall Creek Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. Along the way, you’ll also encounter several other stunning natural waterfalls, including Cane Creek Falls (85 ft), Cane Creek Cascades (45 ft), Coon Creek Falls (250 ft), and Rock House Falls (120 ft)—each impressive in its own unique way.

This is a challenging yet deeply rewarding adventure. You’ll hike approximately 4 to 5 miles, cross a suspension bridge, climb hundreds of steep steps, and descend more than 300 vertical feet into a dramatic gorge to stand at the base of Fall Creek Falls.

Please Note: while your tour with us is fully private, some venues—like parks and attractions—may remain open to the public.

Itinerary for Your Nashville to Fall Creek Falls Journey

Departure:

Enjoy executive-level transportation with roundtrip service from your lodging. We recommend a 7:30 AM departure, though alternative times can be arranged to suit your schedule.

Travel ToFall Creek Falls State Park

Estimated travel time: Approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes each way, with a scheduled rest stop midway on both the outbound and return trips.

ArriveBetty Dunn Nature Center - Start of Hike

We expect to arrive at the Betty Dunn Nature Center parking lot in Fall Creek Falls State Park around 10:30 AM. Restroom facilities will be available before we begin our 4-mile round-trip hike to Fall Creek Falls.

You’ll be rewarded immediately with stunning canyon and waterfall views along Cane Creek. Cross Cane Creek via a suspension bridge that spans the top of Cane Creek Cascade Falls, then continue toward a high bluff overlook offering dramatic views of Cane Creek Falls and Rock House Falls.

Your hike continues through a temperate rainforest landscape as we make our way to the Fall Creek Falls and Gorge Overlook. From this vantage point, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of Fall Creek Falls, Coon Creek Falls, and the Fall Creek Gorge. This marks the halfway point of your hike, which typically takes between 1.5 to 2 hours to reach. Restrooms, water refill stations, and park benches are available in this area for a break before we continue.

For those seeking a deeper adventure, you’re welcome to join a guided trek to the base of the falls.

This strenuous 0.5-mile hike includes descending more than 300 feet (91 meters) over rocky terrain to reach the base of Fall Creek Falls—a dramatic 256-foot free-falling waterfall plunging into a misty gorge.

At the base, you may opt for a refreshing swim beneath the falls (weather permitting), take photos, or simply find a quiet spot to relax and soak in the serenity.

For those who prefer to stay above the gorge, several breathtaking viewpoints and less strenuous walking paths offer panoramic views without the need to descend into and climb out of the gorge.

After our time at Fall Creek Falls, we’ll enjoy a scenic forest hike back to the Betty Dunn Nature Center.

Culinary Interlude

Around 2:00 PM, you’ll enjoy a complimentary lunch served in a scenic location, which may vary depending on the season, weather conditions, and site availability.

ConclusionScenic Park Drive with Beautiful Canyon Vistas

Your visit to Fall Creek Falls State Park concludes with a scenic drive along the Cane Creek and Piney Creek Canyons, where you’ll take in breathtaking views of the rocky canyon landscape—some plunging as deep as 650 feet.

Return

You can expect to return to downtown Nashville approximately 10 to 12 hours after departure; however, actual return time may vary based on traffic, weather, and your group’s pace.

For this reason, we strongly recommend avoiding early evening reservations. Please allow time to freshen up before heading out for dinner, a concert, or other plans.
